Welcome to the U.S. Politics Explorer

This is a project completed for CSE 6242: Data Visualization and Analytics. The project is a web application that allows users to explore political data from 2012 onwards. Specifically, the project visualizes the following: the relationship between state-to-state migration and the number of votes for each political party in the House of Representatives per state, campaign operating expenses per member of Congress in each state, and the donations from Political Action Committees (PACs). Through our visualizations, we hope to provide users with a better understanding of the political landscape in the United States, and the funding that goes into political operations.

As a part of this group project, I built the Chord visualization that shows the relationship between state-to-state migration and the number of votes for each political party in the House of Representatives per state, the PAC donation bubble chart that shows the donations from Political Action Committees (PACs) to members of Congress, and set up the page using Next.js, D3.js, Mantine UI + Notifications, and ShadCDN.
